25th Annual Pittsburgh Ultimate Summer
League
REGISTRATION IS CLOSED
What:
Our annual summer league is an Ultimate Frisbee recreational league consisting
of 24 co-ed teams. Each team will follow the standard 5 M / 2 F format, which
requires that 5 men and 2 women be on the field at all times. Teams will
compete against each other in pool play games and play-offs. The league ends
in a final one-day tournament where a Summer League Champion will be crowned.
When:
This year's co-ed summer league will take place on Saturdays in June, July
& August, plus another 4 games per team on weeknights throughout the
season. You will play 13 regular season games and a full playoff bracket
including a final tournament. The league begins with a kickoff Saturday during
which you will get to pick up your gear, meet your teammates, and practice
together before playing your first game that same day.
Schedule: (Note: the weekday games will vary depending on which team
you are on.)
The Saturday game schedule is:

How are teams determined?
Our summer league uses a draft to create teams. Each team will have a male and
female captain pair who will choose players through a ranked drafting
procedure. This ensures an even distribution of experienced and novice players
on each team. The draft will take place a week before games begin on May 31.
After the draft your captains will contact you to let you know which team you
are on, and your game schedule. (If you want to sign up with a friend, and
want to make sure you play on the same team, when you register, make sure you
list your friend as "baggage.")
How do I register?
On-line registration opens on TUESDAY, MAY 1st and ends SUNDAY, MAY
20. There will be a late on-line registration period from Monday, May 21 -
Thursday, May 24. After May 24, absolutely no registrations will be accepted.
This year there will be a CAP on the number of players participating in the
league, so register early. If you wait and register during the late
registration period, you might not get a chance to play in the league.

year, click here
Why is there a cap?
The growth in the number of men playing in Summer League has outpaced the
growth of the number of women. Although increasing the number of summer league
teams would accommodate the greater number of male participants, this year, we
do not feel we will get the required number of female participants to warrant
such an increase. As a result, we have chosen to institute a cap on the number
of male players. Without the cap, we feel that the playing time for the men
would be inadequate and would decrease enjoyment of the league. So, register
early, get us your registration fee, and completed waiver as soon as you can
to guarantee yourself a spot in this year's Summer League.
Final Tournament Participation:
For this league, in order to participate in finals, a player must attend 25%
of their team's regular season games. Based upon this year's expected
schedule, this number will be 3 games. If you attend fewer than 3 games, you
are not allowed to play in finals.
How do I find out more information?
Most Summer League information is posted here, but we strongly encourage you
to register for the B-Board for more announcements and to participate in
discussion about Summer League, as well as other leagues, teams, and pickup in
the Community for Pittsburgh Ultimate. Please register your username as
"Firstname Lastname" or "Firstname_Lastname." All other username formats may
be rejected. If you have played in a Pittsburgh Ultimate League before, please
check out the Full Player Listing and spell your name exactly as it is spelled
there when you register for the B-Board. Please also take the time to fill out
your player profile for our Community and Archives.
The 2007 Summer League Commissioners are also available to answer your
